Design Systems coursework (go back)

Projects for the Form and Systems course at the Rhode Island School of Design in Fall 2016. Below: An object designed to convey the the proportion 1:√3. Created with Processing.

Pattern As System

An exploration of patterns and how they might function as systems. Each pattern is comprised of the same base "module" repeated 36 times; the only change is in the coloring of the parts of the module.

Chance as System: Abstract Weather Visualizer

Exploring designs generated by chance parameters. I chose 'weather' as a chance operator and wrote a Processing script to abstractly visualize weather conditions. I used the OpenWeather API to fetch live weather data from a user-specified location.

Each aspect of the visualization (background color, sphere size, sphere base color) changes based on different weather factors: temperature, cloud coverage percentage, wind speed, etc.
